When you go on vacation, you need to think about what you are going to wear to the airport. You should wear shoes that are easy to put on and off because of security, and don’t wear really short shorts because your legs will be cold. Also, don’t wear makeup that you have to keep reapplying because it will slow you down. You should not wear flip flops because your feet will hurt when you are walking around the airport.

Your summer uniform is something you wear a lot, like a tank and cutoffs. You can make this more fashionable by subbing the plain jean cutoffs for cutoffs of colored denim or even printed jeans. Add a tank or tee in a bright color, or if the print is really wild, plain black one works too. Add fierce sunglasses and lip gloss and go!

Sunscreen. One of the most confusing skincare products out there, there are about 5 million kinds of it on the market (kidding), and it can be hard to figure out the right kind for your skin. This is a guide to the right sunscreen for you.
- I use Ulta SPF 100 Dry Touch Sunscreen Lotion on my body and Ulta SPF 80 Dry Touch Faces Sunscreen Lotion on my face. They protect really well and don’t smell obnoxious like other sunscreens I’ve tried do.
- For people who don’t burn as easily as I do, I recommend Neutrogena SPF 55 Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock. It leaves absolutely NO residue on your skin and doesn’t go on greasy.
- Even if you have darker skin, still wear some kind of sunblock. Do an SPF 15 or 30 sunscreen, like Neutrogena’s.
- Don’t forget your lips! Use a lip balm or gloss to prevent burns on your lips.

Swimsuits, tanks, and little short shorts. Summer’s coming, fashionistas, and you should think about stocking up for the sunny times ahead. I like Victoria’s Secret for cute little shorts and tanks. Target is cool for sandals, swimsuits and tees. Some of their girl’s suits come with SPF, which is a fringe benefit of their cute swim collection. I also love Lands End for swim because any girl can find a flattering suit for a good price. These are some summer style recommendations, but if you find any other fab places to shop, tell me!

The Pfister hotel’s artist in residence program has housed painter after painter. But finally in a change of pace the people voted for a close family friend of mine, Timothy Westbrook, a costume designer. He has made costumes for the play The Magic Flute, and uses recycled materials in his outfits and fabrics. I saw a fabric with cassette tape woven into it when I went to his gala opening. The hotel is gorgeous and so are his designs.

Wearing the same color on your hands and feet looks so cliche and predictable. A better strategy is to use colors that either compliment each other or make each other stand out. I like red and nude for sophistication or violet and lemon to look fun. Silver and gold look super luxe together, while black and neon look rock chic.

Ever seen one of those giant cell phone case kiosks in the mall? I love those ! But sometimes they only carry cases for iPhones. If you do not have an iPhone, look on Amazon.com. That’s where I found my pink leopard print case for my Samsung Brightside.

There are a few items in your closet that are always great to have. They will never go out of style, and will always be chic.
- Animal prints. Who knew a classic could look so cool?
- Crisp white button-up shirts.Throw them over, wear them under.
- Ballet flats. Low to the ground, but still okay for dressier occasions.
- Skinny jeans in a dark wash. Goes with everything.

The Pantone color of the year combines the look-at-me boldness of redwith the warmth of yellow: tangerine. Sephora carries so many tangerine things, from super bright to cool copper. So many awesome ways to dip into the orange trend without going all-out siren.

I realize it may be a little early to bring out my summer style, but for crying out loud, it’s 80 degrees outside! Always lighten up your makeup when the weather shifts and avoid super dark colors. Go in a boho, more feminine direction.
